Visakhapatnam: The Waltair division of East Coast Railway has earned a revenue of Rs1,926 crore during the first quarter.

The division handled 5.48 million tonnes of freight in June 2021.

It achieved 16.17 MT loading in first quarter of the year with an average loading of 52 rakes per day and earned Rs 622.85 crore revenue in June month alone.

Despite unfavorable conditions due to the second wave of Covid upsurge, the Waltair division has shown good performance, in the month of June. The division loaded 5.48 million tonnes of freight in June, which is 16.10 per cent more than that of last year's performance for the same period.

The division transported various goods like coal, iron ore, fertilizers, petroleum products and raw materials to various power houses, manufacturing companies, production units and industries across the country. The division handled an average of 52 rakes per day in this quarter.

In the month of June, the division did remarkable performance by earning revenue of Rs 622.85 crore that showed an increase of 12.46 per cent than last year for the same period. In this first quarter from April to June -2021-22 the division transported 16.17 million tonnes of freight-36.92 per cent more than the corresponding period of last financial year and Rs 1,926.70 crore generated which is also 40.63 per cent more than the corresponding period last year.

The division achieved good performance under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Chetan Kumar Shrivastava. The Business Development Units of the division made significant contributions in attracting new avenues for loading, according to AK Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division.
